Because the stock manifold flanges don't align squarely with the ports, flow is restricted. Banks corrects the problem with thick flanges that are machined dead flat, and precisely fitted to the port pattern. You can hear the difference in the plusher, healthier exhaust note.
Unlike the stock exhaust manifolds, Banks TorqueTubes are built of heavy, 400-series stainless steel to weather a lifetime of heat, stress and abuse. The flanges, welded to the tube assemblies on both sides, will never crack or separate. The gaskets are made of SMI 900, a material that stands up to super-hot temperatures.
